Its a shame. i used to like this band until I met Maynard. He's a fuckin Prick and a Phony. The Music Is good, But My experience with him Ruined it.

these guys don't deserve all the credit they get

This is definitely a classic of the 1990's metal scene. They're kickass live too, although Maynard tends to be a little longwinded (ignore him and enjoy the music and trippy visuals). Unique sound, I still listen to this album fairly frequently (after like ten years), and think that people who don't at least appreciate Tool should be shot in the face.

HEY!! WHERE'S 'OPIATE???' ps---> Nu-Metal? I hardly think so and I know my fellow T00L fans will agree: so-called nu-metal is for SISSY WANNABE'S!!

From: Dani Filth Date: October 22, 2004 at 11:37
i dunno about tool. they aint all they are cracked up to be. despite this, check out the song Sober. that is fucking insane. to KoRn- inventors of nu- metal- i got no quarrel with you, guys. i actually like some of KoRn's music. however, they spawned a generation of crap music that does not deserve to rightfully be called music. i am talking about limp bizkit, linkin park, and all those wannabes who tried combining pop and metal together. fuck you all, nu- metal bands.

From: Dani Filth Date: October 22, 2004 at 11:38
btw, despite what some wankers may think, these blokes are NOT FUCKING NU- METAL. GET IT THROUGH YOUR FUCKING HEADS, YOU STUPID, IGNORANT, IDIOTIC DICKHEADS. thank you.

From: Rycheage Date: November 24, 2004 at 21:08
Awesome album. "Sober", "Intolerance and "Prison Sex" just blows you away. "Bottom" also is a good song. I don't care if Maynard is a dick, the music rocks.

From: detective Date: February 9, 2005 at 19:39
I was totally into Tool when I heard "Opiate", but this album is where I first encountered what was to be "nu-metal" and wrote that shit off. Blunted, samey, boring, under the sadly mistaken delusion that it's "art"... WTF? I couldn't believe anybody dug this caca or any of the current stuff that it has led us into. Fact is that this IS ground zero for the disgusting Revolver magazine bullshit that we are now hip deep in. People thought hair-metal was bad? Damn, I'll take DISCO over THIS...

From: Dani Filth Date: February 11, 2005 at 10:20
wishing to revise my comments earlier... yes, i like some of Tool's stuff. i have nothing against people into nu-metal, by the way. i just dont like it all that much. on that note, Slipknot, Mudvayne, and SOAD are all good nu-metal bands (at least i admit they are nu-metal), but the rest is just not for me. sorry.

From: Ack Date: July 10, 2005 at 6:43
Tool is an awesome band, but yes, Maynard is a dick because he can't even take just a couple of seconds to shake the hand of a fan who gives their hard-earned money to buy his band's albums.

From: Metalhead66 Date: August 26, 2005 at 14:07
Worth it alone for the song Sober....Cool video also. Not Nu/pu-metal at all!More like King Crimson/Sound Gardenish.. Maybe A little..very little Pink Floyd..very adroit sounding.
