holy baloney... THIS IS NOT MAIDEN!! it could be a good thing but... The angel and the gambler is THE WORST THING i've ever heard in my life (except backshit boys) YOU ARE LISTENING THIS CD AT YER OWN RISK.

From: SIXXSWINE Date: May 5, 2002 at 12:11
I think this is the "worst" disc to come out, next to Van Halen III. The only thing that that disc & this disc have is the name of a band that once was. Unlike Van Halen, Maiden realized they shit the bed, while Van Halen did not. Don't waste your dough on this one... 4.5-at best

From: oldyett Date: June 27, 2002 at 0:29
as much as i really thought x-factor was a great album, this is just a band run completly out of ideas, sorry steve, this ain't happening at all!

From: dani Date: August 11, 2002 at 17:52
DEFINITELY THE MOST MATURE WORK TILL NOW

From: Damien Date: September 10, 2002 at 11:47
Don't these guys ever stop? No no that's a good thing! I love Iron Maiden! This CD is great. Buy it. BUY IT NOW!

From: Noname Date: January 19, 2003 at 21:20
The worst disc of all of iron maiden's. Production being supported by Steve Harris, is very poor. All songs have a feeling of deja-vu of all their previous works... Is their feeble work.If you are not into them, try another album to start.

bad... really bad...

From: tailgunner Date: March 3, 2003 at 20:39
salvo futureal, las demas...menos mal que ya ha vuelto dickinson...

From: mrs. Harris Date: October 13, 2003 at 12:00
It cannot be bad because THE CLANSMAN is great song (Steve is a genious)! But this song is better with Bruce...

From: Date: February 9, 2004 at 22:06
its not bruce but its still great with some all time great songs like the clansman

From: Tocallo Date: March 30, 2004 at 18:38
esto es IRON MAIDEN?????? no cabe duda Iron Maiden estaba sostenido por 5 pilares,se cayeron dos ( ADRIAN Y BRUCE )y la gran calidad del grupo se tabalea que tristeza..

From: MaidenWV Date: May 4, 2004 at 11:05
Great song, great music, Bad vocals. I saw Bruce do the Clansman live. It was killer. Guy's please rerecord this album with Bruce.

From: richard Date: May 31, 2004 at 7:54
it is not cool ...i think it is terrible to not have dicko!!!

From: Shannon Date: June 19, 2004 at 18:59
THIS IS THE WORST IRON MAIDEN ALBUM EVER!!!! D-

From: Date: June 23, 2004 at 14:55
like MaidenWV said, if maiden could just re-record both Virtual XI and X-factor, then they would be a lot better. You compare the recorded version of clansman to bruce singing the clansman in rock in rio 2001. there is a lot of difference. you wouldn't believe how much bruce and an extra guitarist (adrian obviously) could make a song sound so much better.

From: Date: June 23, 2004 at 14:58
i missed something off that last post btw :S. they should improve half the songs aswell like the angel and the gambler (..makes me shiver at the thought of it)

From: Big Papa K Date: July 1, 2004 at 17:54
This is better than "The X Factor", but every song runs into the same problem, which is the chorus just being repeated over and over. The worst example would be "The Angel And The Gambler". This might also be their lightest album ever. 4/10

From: higher orbit Date: July 11, 2004 at 16:39
The album is OK, a little change of sound, but not bad!

From: Steve Date: August 31, 2004 at 9:16
I dont like this album very much. Blaze has an alright voice(next to Bruce),and Futureal is Kick Ass! The rest of the album lacks badly.

From: Supernaut Date: September 20, 2004 at 14:32
My least favorite Maiden album, but Futureal and When Two Worlds Collide are awesome, buy it just for reference don't put much thought in it

From: Metal T Date: December 20, 2004 at 12:15
Again, not as bad as others would lead you to beleive."Virtual XI" like "The X Factor" would be raked over the coals.Alot of Maiden' fans miss the point entirely."Iron Maiden" were not trying to one-up or top Bruce,by getting a new singer.I mean did you really expect Maiden' to sit idle and do nothing while Dickinson' was away those years ? --Get real. ----

From: Brice Date: August 1, 2005 at 0:22
Hey man Van Halen kicks ASS!

From: Luis Duarte Date: September 22, 2005 at 9:09
As Maiden is my favourite band i dont want to write a negative review about them , so i just decided to ignore the Blaze era really....

From: pie75 Date: September 5, 2010 at 5:31
metal t you make a couple of great points though when you do hear bruce sing the blaze songs it sounds like he should've sang them all along but there are good songs here like futereal, lightning strikes twice, the clansman and the whoish the angel and the gambler is not as bad as people say herestrangly steve harris said in an interview that this was one of his favourite maiden albums not as heavy or dark as x factor but a decent album though i gotta say bruce's accident of birth which came out round the same time killed this

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 22, 2014 at 16:10
Quite a dull album to be honest IMHO...Blaze was like a pain in the neck in the sound that Maiden delivered when he was in the band...Blaze was or may i say,far better with his own solo project or even with Wolfsbane but in Maiden he was just a "filler"...tracks 1,2,4,5 & 7 are just o.k but soon forgettable ones...50/100

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: July 22, 2014 at 16:20
Blaze shouldn't get all the blame for what is by most accounts one of Maiden's all-time worst discs. After all, Steve Harris is the main songwriter and ringleader of the band. He signed off on all this bullshit. "Futureal" and "The Clansman" are decent, but "The Angel and the Gambler" has to be one of Maiden's worst songs ever! Everybody wants to pin it all on Blaze, but even after Bruce came back, Maiden for the most part kept on writing over-long, boring songs with no hooks.
