| What a disc...even better than Icon....it was followed by One Second..which was not bad, although in a softer direction. Draconian Times sees them at the peak...and i don't think they will ever top it. Brilliant stuff!!!

| Well it's not my pick for metal but it'll do. If you like this type of music then yes get it! Otherwise...well...don't. This is my personal favorite by Paradise Lost.

| El mejor de Paradise, aunque es gotico moderado, Holm canta como si estuviera en las catacumbas o pasajes macabros de esos castillos narrados en los cuentos de Edgar allan Poe...'Hallowed Land', 'Shades of God' tremendos Recomendado. 9.2/10

A rare release that has actually improved with age, Enchantment still one of the best opening numbers of any record & THE perfect Goth/metal song period! And the hits keep coming, Hallowed Land, The Last Time doubt even the band expected its impact. Buried toward albums end too is Yearn For Change which offers a slight calm from the riffage that has come before while itself bringing its own essential headbang. Once in a while such an album ticks all the boxes, right from the tunes lyrics, the performances & production through to the album artwork & packaging, everything here wins & with each re-release we can't get enough  It wasn't until their 2005 self-titled (weirdly one of many PL records not listed here for reviewing!?) did they, in this fan's opinion, deliver such a complete and life-absorbing album requiring purchase of vinyl t-shirt & the whole shebang, yet Draconian Times continues to soar to this day. Essential for any metal collection & a personal favorite. Rating 9

| With Icon and especially Draconian Times, Paradise Lost should have been the next Metallica. And I've heard that they were huge in Europe, but North America didn't wanna know about this stuff. It's our loss. Here we have some dark, heavy, but quite accessible metal here, with most songs moving along at a decent mid-paced clip, putting aside the band's doom roots. Nick Holmes leaves behind the death growls of early albums for a refinement of the Hetfield-like bark he used on Icon. "Enchantment" lives up to its title, with its mesmerizing piano intro, the rest of the song being just about the doomiest thing here. "Hallowed Land," "The Last Time," "Yearn For Change," "I See Your Face"—it's easy to imagine any or all of these songs being hits in an alternate '90's universe. File along with similar albums released a little later in the decade by Sentenced.
