All I can say is, fantastic!. Arch are one of the best metal bands going today, and with the addition of Angela Gossow, their even better. Now they have added an evil, on the lines of Cadavaria from Opera IX fame, female vocalist who has made their music an enigma of heavy death metal, and I should know, I have all of their albums and Wages of Sin is their Tour De Force. Fans of this band have just got to own this album, they will not regret it.

While, I'm not a fan of Death Metal, I must admit this band is one of my favorites. I think that with the addition of a female singer, people had doubts they could pull it off. They showed us. Their 'best' material to date, some real musicianship happening here folks, check this band out. Don't waste your dough on these NUMETAL acts, they are here today & will be gone the next day. I picked up the reissue with the bonus disc of B-Sides & it has two bonus videos for your PC. 9.5 for sure!

An absolutely stunning album both lyrically and musically. Arch Enemy have really pushed forward the envelope with this one. Album is chock full of meaty hooks, brilliant guitar work and amazing vocal work from Angela Gossow. A must have for any death metal fan.

ARCH ENEMY IS THE FUCKING GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD. PEOPLE THAT DISAGREE SHOULD BE HUNG UPSIDE DOWN, TORTURED, AND MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD. ANGELA IS A FUCKING GODDESS AND THERE ISNT A WOMAN IN THIS WORLD THAT COULD COME CLOSE TO GROWLING AS INCREDIBLY AS SHE CAN. YOU HAVE TO BE ABSOLUTELY INSANE NOT TO LIKE HER, OR THE BAND ITSELF.

From: Lazer Date: May 26, 2004 at 16:28
Angela sucks A.E badly needs a new singer. I could do better vocals then she can.She should go back where she came from.

well, hmm, this album is pretty damn good, I've heard and it's great. compared to the crap load of nu metal garbage band. they are above all superior.....

From: j Date: June 3, 2004 at 13:23
this album is good but in flames on the jester race is better fuck those satanists

From: kill nu metal Date: June 4, 2004 at 14:28
Ahem, well I bought 'anthems of rebellion', well, first off it sounds good, but the song structures aren't that great, there's a lot of good solos in the songs. But this album kind of lost the amazing sound from 'wages of sin'. I'd give it a 8/10. it's ok but not good enough. In their next album they should look back at wages of sin, so they can re-inspire themselves. well, I'm out and once again this is Nether, and another thing kill gay nu metal. Load of garbage, doesn't deserve a second chanc

What the hell? According to recent crime stats, false whore murders are down 20% this year, so I guess this Arch Enemy fella ain't killing 'em like he used to...

This was my entry ! @

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: January 4, 2023 at 15:45
This was my entry to Arch Enemy. At that point, I was still an extreme-metal skeptic, but this band, along with Amon Amarth, made it easier to get into death metal. And granted, it's not death metal as in Cannibal Corpse. It's death-metal with heavy power and traditional metal influences that make the songs much more accessible to someone used to more typical rock songwriting. The extremity is there in the razor-sharp modern production, the double-bass drumming, the tuning of the guitars down to C, and of course in the vocals, but as things went in 2002, this went down pretty easily. As for the disc itself, although I endoy some of the Johan Liiva material, Wages Of Sin is really the beginning of Arch Enemy for me. Three of their bestsongs ever are "Burning Angel," "Heart Of Darkness" and "Ravenous," with other highlights being "Dead Bury Their Dead," "Web Of Lies," "Behind The Smile" and the slow, melancholy "Savage Messiah."

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: January 4, 2023 at 15:49
I saw Iron Maiden, Dio and Motorhead in 2003, and during the break between bands, one of the songs played over the PA system was "Heart Of Darkness." Me and my buddy, who had been the one to turn me on to Arch Enemy in the first place, flipped out.
