One of the best death metal discs of all time. I've seen these guys live 6 times and they slayed every damn time. "Chopped in Half" and "Cause of Death" are particular standouts. I don't think i would have made it through high school without this disc. 10/10

To Metalhead66- on all the pages of this website i have thus far visited, you have not once like the band. the cause of this may be one of two things- first, you have got no dick. second, you are a pop music fanatic, in which event you have no dick anyway. either way you lose, pal. give it the fuck up, go home to mommy and listen to your backstreet boys and britney spears records. leave heavy metal for people who can handle it.

To Metalhead66- if you are a female, i apologize. you are merely a 600 kilo whore, with a bad taste in music.

Wow,such an angry young man! I've seen it before though..A Poser's attempt at trying to hide their obvious latent homosexual feelings! Thats all it can be little barrow boy. As for as Pop music..it sucks! As does this C.D.

Discazo. "Chopped in half" "Dying" "Find the Arise" son gemas del death. Pero el disco es completísimo. Clásico y mi favorito de todos los tiempos. 10/10

Obituary's first two albus are both death-metal gold, but for me, Cause Of Death has a slight edge on its predecessor. The production is a little more balanced, although not much. John Tardy is wretching up more actual words, although not many, choosing to make horrific, miserable sounds, like some kind of monster vomiting up half-digested humans. The guitars are tuned down for a more sinister sound that calls to mind the sweltering atmosphere of their Florida home (or so we would like to imagine). Allen West's wild and woolly soloing has been upgraded for this one album with the more disciplined, fluid playing of James Murphy. The songwriting is improved as well, although when the guys cover Celtic Frost, the gradient is noticeable. Great tracks abound though, with the opening salvo of "Infected," "Body Bag" and the monolithic "Chopped In Half" all being gruesomely great. "Find The Arise" (whatever that means), the title track and "Memories Remain" are highlights as well.
