This is one of the best symphonic metal album I heard. The title track start with a wonderful piano, the voice of Zakk is amazing. Follow me is a drammatic mid tempo, and there are also great metal track like He carves his stone. This is a must. WE'll never forget Criss.

The two first, together with follow me are great. Not symphionyc as someone says here, but good hard rock with progressive arrengements. the difference with other albums are the great voice here. Oliva does'nt know how to sing

Whether or not Jon can sing doesn't matter. What does was that this was Criss's last album before his unfortunate death at the hands of a drunk driver. Zak stepped in and did a beautiful job on vocals and Criss, well Criss was one of a kind. I really hate drunk drivers and think they should be slaughtered wholesale. If you drink and drive, your part o fthe problem.

The last cd with Criss Oliva. But he left us with a great cd! I love many of the songs in here. R.I.P., Criss Oliva, we will not forget you.

Enter Zachary Stevens, bringing a throaty, highly melodic voice that is technically better and more versatile than Jon Oliva's, but not as charismatic and unique. For his part, Jon retires his rabid screech and retreats behind the piano. Edge Of THorns isn't as over-the-top bombastic as Strets, thank God, but it's definitely smoother and less aggressive than, say, Power Of The Night. "Lights Out" is really the only balls-out rager to be found, but lots of midtempo heaviness to be found in songs like "Skraggy's Tomb," "COnversation Piece," and "He Carves His Stone," where Stevens and the band all freak out at the end. Criss Oliva does that thing that only he does throughout, and his solo on the moody title track is one of his absolute best ever. "All That I Bleed" and the all-acoustic "Sleep" are nice ballads, rounding out what I consider the best of the Zach Stevens-led albums
