Savatage are one of the greatest bands ever. At least until Criss Oliva died. This album is classic. The guitar work is phenomenal. Strange Wings soars as a metal classic and ofcourse Hall of The Mountain King is played as a cover by every metal band including live Metallica shows. There is no weak song on this album. For those of you who missed Savatage go back and find them. Start with this one if and branch out from there.

Fine record with truly heavy/progressive metal in the Fates Warning vein although not as good. Still, I recommend it, check out 24 hours ago (the best track), the title track, Beyond the doors of the dark, The Price you pay, and the catchy pop-metal of Strange Wings, which sounds like the Scorpions song, but is MUCH better.

This is a very good album. Heavy, yet melodic. All very good songs. I especially like Strange Wings, Hall Of The Mountain King, and Legions best, in my opinion. Classic metal!

One of the best metal albums of all time, no doubt. The entire band is great in this record, overall Jon's amazing vocals and Criss' playing. Since the first to the last track is a metal masterpiece. But 24 hours ago, Strange Wings and overall the incredible riff of The Price You pay are my favourites. LONG LIVE SAVATAGE!!!!!

From: ChrisSlade Date: November 23, 2004 at 15:46
Just listen to Ray Gillen and Jon Olivia sing together on Strange Wings, says it all! This is one of the definitive Metal Masterpieces PERIOD!

Looks like everyone else summed it up. Awesome album - go and buy it!! Smokin' guitars and a vicous melodic vocalist that is amazing. Songs hit hard.
