Great CD. Great cover of Summer Breeze.

Ah screw it! I'm sticking to Iced Earth and Blind Guardian from now on. Good if you like Type O Negative otherwise they are not the best metal band to start out with. Still as a non-fan this is an okay CD. Just okay....

You gotta love that album cover. Type O are a great live band too. This was their last good CD.

It's so unfortunate nowadays that so many people who consider themselves goth listen to absolute mindless crap like Type O Negative. This band is a horribly watered down version of what goth once was. Save the money you would spend on this waste of an album and go buy the Mission UK, the Sisters of Mercy or London Arfter Midnight.

From: Anthrax Date: June 3, 2003 at 11:57
This album isn't all that its okay why is everyone sweating this album for i mean come one its all right fo type o negative

From: GodOD69 Date: August 7, 2003 at 22:40
Type O' ain't goth in my book as there songs just don't have a goth ring to them. Just cause they sing Black #1 doesn't make em a goth band. Black is my favorite lack of color but Goth peeps are obscure on a whole different level. That and Sisters of Mercey are not a goth band as they have abounced to there fans they just come out looking like it.

From: Sethmosis Date: December 17, 2003 at 2:45
All of Type O's CD's are good. I especially like some of the songs on this CD however. Their riffs may not be all that complicated for the most part, but they have a dark, deep, slow, creepy, and deadly sound to them!

I agree, Type O is all about atmosphere. If you're looking for instrumental wizardry, you will most likely walk away unimpressed. Not that they're bad musicians or anything, virtuosity is just not the focal point of the band.

i dont care what no one say's,i belive type o,is a very DEEP metal,i love it,to me all there albums where perfect,i belive we need more bands like them.....

Never heard of these guys before 1998, then saw a stripper dance to the song Black No.1 and spent the next three days trying to find out who the hell the band was. Finally found out and got this cd the same day. Awesome fuckin' disc from start to finish! I don't know what's up with 2 different versions of this cd floating around. The digipack version is better IMO. Great cover of Summer Breeze.

This is one of those CD's that tends to find its way into my rotation in the autumn, especially around Halloween time. Gotta love the doomy, gothy atmosphere, and the band's sense of humor. Peter Steele occasionally (okay, often) tries too hard to sound creepy, and the music could be produced in such a way to make it sound heavier, with guirars more upfront. Oh well, it is what it is, and if you're going to own any Type O albums, this is the one to get. The track listing above is the digipak reissued in about '99, the band requesting the label remove the dumb 'interludes' and a couple thrashy hardcore songs that weere on the original '93 release.

It's autumn again, and so a good time to revisit the Type O. This is a band that really could only have existed in the '90's. Much of their politically-incorrect humor would not be appreciated today, and the whole goth culture they simultaneously embraced and lampooned now seemed antiquated. They became known as the Drab Four, but thanks to synesthesia, I "hear" a lot of colors in their music thanks to Josh Silver's lush keyboards, which do tend to drown Kenny Hickey's grinding doom riffs timetimes. "Kill All The White People" and "We Hate Everyone" sound like leftovers from Carnivore, and were removed from a later digipak re-release of the album (the track listing above has been updated to the original), but they offer a bit of their own flavor when things sometimes threaten to bog down. "Christian Woman" and "Black #1" are essential tracks as is "Summer Breeze," but other good ones include the title track, "Too Late" and "Set Me On Fire," as well as the bonus track "Su"Suspended In D

"Suspended In Dusk." You can get all this and more on the two-disc "Top Shelf" edition.
