I still haven't figured out whether I like this album because of its sheer power and songcraft, or because I totally want to sodomize the lead singer (think of the notes she'd be able to reach). Cheesy as fuck, and the band is made up of people (beyond Tarja) whose asses I'd gladly kick based on looks alone, but a guilty pleasure nonetheless.

I went to the same high school of arts & music with Tarja in my native city Savonlinna in Finland, she´s two years younger than me. This is true, I'm not kidding. She's incredibly nice and kind person, and even modest after all the success with this band. Actually no-one knew her in Finland before this band caught the worldwide attention. She's certainly not going to let the success confuse her head. She is really going to concentrate in classical music and studies singing in Europe.

Tarja is foxy dynamite! This is really good record. I saw them two times on the stage, when this one came out and their live sound is good as it is in record. Tuomas and Emppu are really talent guys and Tarja´s voice is something that heavy music hasn´t ever had before! One of the best Nightwish cd´s. Stargazers, Sacrament Of Wilderness, The Riddler, Moondance and The Pharaoh Sails.. are my fav´s!

Their best album. Nightwish is a unique band, and Oceanborn is killer. Power metal for the true metalheads, Tarja has more balls than all the Slipknot members.

I've heard great things about this band and it's not like I haven't given them a chance or anything, but I just can't get myself to like this cd. The lady's voice just doesn't do it. Sounds like an opera singer with guitars and xylophones(?)

The vocals on the earlier albums are a bit annoying, over the top and much too operatic for my liking but they are getting less so with each release. I have to admit that the latest release, once, is excellent.
