This is one of the seminal, deeply influential early works of extreme metal. There isn't and hasn't been a single band from any of the extreme metal genres that haven't been influenced by this ep. Heck, Mayhem's drummer even uses the name. That said, Hellhammer's music, while certainly grinding and dark, isn't extraordinary. Sensing this, the band morphed into the much more evolved Celtic Frost. This is a must-own for all metal fans, but won't likely be anyone's favorite.

What a fucking black metal masterpiece. You will realise that not only hellhammer performs at his best on the instruments but also the production stands out so that there is no metal album which can compares with this legendary milestone. Messiah ,an amusing and aggressive rock n' roll classic makes your brain blowing up as if you were killing a bitch! Buy this metal classic or else go to hell and marry your mother in law!!!

This is the original 4 tracked release posted here because there's a re-edition that brings 2 additional ones...to tell you something there are 2 things i wanna express, first i'm not very keen on Death Metal and the other one is that obviously Tom G Warrior went better with Celtic Frost afterwards...about the songs, the ones i liked were "Massacra","Horus/Agressor" & "Messiah"(re-edition)...just for real lovers of the genre i guess...65/100
