| The late Tomas Lindberg takes the mic for this album only, and what a white-knuckle ride it is! The band claims that the re-recorded version from 2004, with returning vocalist Johan Lindstraand under the title Crowned Unholy, is the definitive version, and maybe

| To my ears, while Crowned Unholy doesn't have as much of the trebly, buzzsaw guitar sound that Swedish death-metal prided itself on throughout the '90's (and which I honestly don't care for), they also seem to play it a hair slower. That might make it tighter, but honestly, there's just something about the unhinged speed of Crowned In Terror, plus Lindberg's higher-pitched howls that put it just ahead of Crowned Unholy. Bands like the Crown, the Haunted and Witchery were just so much fucking FUN circa 2000. Best tracks here are the title track, "Under The Whip," "Drugged Unholy" ... I just realized I was basically typing the whole tracklist. Really, there's nothing bad here. Just 43 minutes of uncut adrenaline.
