COC go for a straight ahead heavy/thrash sound on this one and it works really well. Clean My Wounds is a stand out headbanger while Seven Days is a heavy slow tempo rocker with deep lyrics and screeching vocals. If you only get one COC disc, make it this.

I agree with edwithmj, this is the jewel in COC's catalog, although I like all their albums after the '80's. However, I find Deliverance to be much LESS thrashy than previous releases, the band instead opting for a slower, Sabbath-y, stoner groove, with strong flavorings of the style that would very soon come to be known as "southern metal." "Albatross" and the Thin Lizzy-ish "Clean My Wounds" both enjoyed modest radio and MTV airplay in the States circa '94-'95, and other good tracks include "Heaven's Not Overflowing," "Broken Man," "Senor Limpio," "Seven Days" and the trippy, swampy acoustic "Shelter."
