i listen to all the forms of metal, hell i listen to all the forms of rock,so i have a right to give a respectable judgement.Even if i don't like a band,I'll still say if they are good.

From: Motley Date: October 30, 2003 at 21:38
Normally Im an addicted hardrock/glam/metal freak but this band has really but some greart shit inot their stuff. Ive heard Dimmu Borgir aswell but they dont reach it as far COF goes....I really dig some stuff COF has done...Not all but pretty much I'd say...Im not a black metal fan, far from it, but this stuff somewhow really inspires you and get your bad-mood-temper-day off....Great work you english chaps...

Cradle of Filth are truly magnificant. They are pioneers of the 'new breed of heavy music'. I have yet to see a heavy band to withstand the test of time and year by year still produce some of the most fresh sounding and awe-inspiring music with each record release.

From: SkeezixDilemma Date: March 26, 2004 at 0:31
What? Cradle of Filth is classified as doom/death metal, try black metal. Anyways, Dani has some of the most lyrical compositions ever written, check out the early stuff for more gothic influenced stuff. They should've stopped after Midian, in my opinion, their best.

From: Janna Date: April 9, 2004 at 0:41
Cradle of filth is the best. I have never heard anyone or any band who came close to beating them...COF rocks

From: James Date: April 21, 2004 at 17:50
Cradle of filth are gr8 any on who says they aint shuld go and kill them selves its not hard to understand the words

From: travis Date: May 6, 2004 at 13:42
Cradle is really a great band. Dani is a lyrical genius. His vocals can be iffy at times, but for the most part he pulls it off well, especially on songs such as 'Suicide and other comforts,' 'her ghost in the fog,' and 'lord abortion'

From: Baphochrist Date: May 9, 2004 at 9:27
While this is my least favorite Cradle Of Filth album, I still hold it in high regard. Cradle Of Filth mix the best elements of black, doom, and gothic metal into a superior package. They go far and beyond shit like Slipknot, Korn, or any other nu metal. To claim that they themselves are nu metal is just fucking absurd. Compare their lyrics, guitar, drumming, vocals, or concepts to any of that angst ridden shit and tell me its nu metal. Not pure black metal, but my favorite band of all time.

From: Doom Kid Date: May 17, 2004 at 10:48
At last CoF in this shit list. But, CoF, Doom-Death? I think not, men. CoF is pure Black-Vamp-Gothic Metal. But, after al, CONGRATULATIONS for including the best band ever in this list. METAL 4EVER.

From: Lazer Date: May 26, 2004 at 16:20
They're are a good band but my great. Alot of there stuff sounds the same.

From: blashyrkh-cro Date: May 30, 2004 at 9:54

From: Date: June 9, 2004 at 16:04
yeah COF = death/doom WTF ! they are black metal, albeit commerical atmospheric black metal

From: lutak Date: June 15, 2004 at 3:15
gothic blackmetal rocks the people dani's voice is incredidble and unbelievable.

From: Seifer Date: June 25, 2004 at 4:58
to many bad comments...why. dont hate the band because it would beat any other doom death (wtf is that...its called death metal you tards)bands to ever be created in the future and has already kicked all the other death metal bands straight to hell.

From: seifer Date: June 25, 2004 at 5:02
Oh and i forgot to include that, when any of you people( who said bad things about this band) make a better death metal band call me at (250)765-8299 and ask for Sean(i doubt ill get any calls because you cant beat CoF ever) dont call unless your badmouthing the band and made a better death metal band but if your saying shit about this album well then by al means go ahead its not there best album anyway.

From: Dani Filth Date: July 3, 2004 at 13:04
why people always gotta come to this site just to cuss bands? if you dont like the music then just FUCKING say so. i love the music of cradle of filth. they have the perfect blend of keyboards, guitar, drums and base and they do it much better than other CoF wannabe's. oh, and in my opinion, it is Gothic metal. favorite songs- Suicide and other comforts, born in a burial gown, scorched earth erotica and all hope lies in eclipse.

From: Raven Date: July 26, 2004 at 8:40

From: GhostRider69 Date: January 17, 2005 at 11:04

I pace, alone, in a place for the dead overcome by woe... and here, I've grown so fond of dread that i swear it's Heaven...

From: Dani Filth Date: March 12, 2005 at 10:44
Is anyone who comments on these people actuall IN a band? Do any of you wankers who pay out CoF KNOW just how fucking difficult these sorts of vocals are to pull off? tell me if you are, I'm frontman for a local group called Decadent Insanity and trust me, Black Metal vocals are hard. The moment ANYONE here can sing better than Dani, fucking tell me. I'm not sure I'll believ you, but...

From: Metalhead66 Date: March 31, 2005 at 11:31
Born in a Burial Gown is a Really good song..Although I liked the Midian Album better ....Man that Guy has a very cool way of singing...not for everybody...can't listen to it all the time, but still cool.

From: grim Date: April 4, 2005 at 21:27
mother of abominations-our lady overkill. smothering the congregation, grips the cosmic wheel, A lover or acceleration,no mercy nor brakes applied. I see dead stars collide in Her cold unflinching powerslide.

From: grim Date: April 4, 2005 at 21:30
and if venom is pure black metal, then so is black sabbath and metallica

From: Dani Filth Date: June 3, 2005 at 11:30
other bands i reccomend: Satyricon, Darkthrone, Bal-Sagoth, Hecate Enthroned, Thus Defiled, Venom, Burzum, Emperor, Borknagar and Dimmu Borgir. All of them are great black metal bands, but don't stint yourself to merely black metal. there is so much good music out there- Obituary, At the Gates, Pantera, Susperia, Sepultura, Hatebreed, In FLames, Soilwork, Hate Eternal, Slayer, Metallica, Napalm Death, black Sabbath, S.O.A.D, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Il nino...

From: alberto Date: July 15, 2005 at 13:40

From: Queen Diamond Date: July 16, 2005 at 1:49
Cradle of Filth is one of the best Bands that have ever come out. No one sounds like them, their whole sound is unique. Dani Filth is an amazing vocalist. I love all their albums

From: Dani Filth Date: September 14, 2005 at 9:54
This will be my last comment here. it mainly concerns the comparisons people seem to delight in making between Dimmu Borgir and CoF- listen a little closer, mates. there is NO SIMILARITY WHATSOEVER between the two groups. Let me elaborate that. Firstly, Dimmu and Cradle are from two completely different countries. Secondly, sure they both use synth. The sounds between the two synths are completely different- Dimmu's synth sounds like action movie soundtracks, Cradle's is more gothic. (continues)

From: Dani Filth Date: September 14, 2005 at 10:00
Thirdly, check out the vocal styles. how the HELL is there a similarity between Dani and Shagrath? Even their low-tuned growling vocals are completely different. and whilst we're talkinag about vocals, let's talk about the actual lyrics. Dani writes all his lyrics himself, and they are poetry. Actual fucking POETRY. Dimmu's vocals are mainly written by Silenoz, and they more resemble tribal war chants in their structure and content. So, finally I approach the end of my rant. (continues)

From: Dani Filth Date: September 14, 2005 at 10:02
CoF and Dimmu are two completely different bands, making completely different music. they are both brilliant in their own rights, even if i do prefer CoF overall. STOP FUCKING COMPARING THE TWO.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: September 14, 2015 at 16:40
Decent album with a commercial Death Metal feel, the formula that the band has done through out the years and has helped them somehow to achieve a worldwide recognition...tracks 4,5,7,9 & 10 are my faves...80/100
