| Normally Im an addicted hardrock/glam/metal freak but this band has really but some greart shit inot their stuff. Ive heard Dimmu Borgir aswell but they dont reach it as far COF goes....I really dig some stuff COF has done...Not all but pretty much I'd say...Im not a black metal fan, far from it, but this stuff somewhow really inspires you and get your bad-mood-temper-day off....Great work you english chaps...

| Cradle of Filth are truly magnificant. They are pioneers of the 'new breed of heavy music'. I have yet to see a heavy band to withstand the test of time and year by year still produce some of the most fresh sounding and awe-inspiring music with each record release.

| What? Cradle of Filth is classified as doom/death metal, try black metal. Anyways, Dani has some of the most lyrical compositions ever written, check out the early stuff for more gothic influenced stuff. They should've stopped after Midian, in my opinion, their best.

| Cradle is really a great band. Dani is a lyrical genius. His vocals can be iffy at times, but for the most part he pulls it off well, especially on songs such as 'Suicide and other comforts,' 'her ghost in the fog,' and 'lord abortion'

| While this is my least favorite Cradle Of Filth album, I still hold it in high regard. Cradle Of Filth mix the best elements of black, doom, and gothic metal into a superior package. They go far and beyond shit like Slipknot, Korn, or any other nu metal. To claim that they themselves are nu metal is just fucking absurd. Compare their lyrics, guitar, drumming, vocals, or concepts to any of that angst ridden shit and tell me its nu metal.Not pure black metal, but my favorite band of all time.

| Oh and i forgot to include that, when any of you people( who said bad things about this band) make a better death metal band call me at (250)765-8299 and ask for Sean(i doubt ill get any calls because you cant beat CoF ever) dont call unless your badmouthing the band and made a better death metal band but if your saying shit about this album well then by al means go ahead its not there best album anyway.

| why people always gotta come to this site just to cuss bands? if you dont like the music then just FUCKING say so. i love the music of cradle of filth. they have the perfect blend of keyboards, guitar, drums and base and they do it much better than other CoF wannabe's. oh, and in my opinion, it is Gothic metal. favorite songs- Suicide and other comforts, born in a burial gown, scorched earth erotica and all hope lies in eclipse.

| other bands i reccomend: Satyricon, Darkthrone, Bal-Sagoth, Hecate Enthroned, Thus Defiled, Venom, Burzum, Emperor, Borknagar and Dimmu Borgir. All of them are great black metal bands, but don't stint yourself to merely black metal. there is so much good music out there- Obituary, At the Gates, Pantera, Susperia, Sepultura, Hatebreed, In FLames, Soilwork, Hate Eternal, Slayer, Metallica, Napalm Death, black Sabbath, S.O.A.D, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Il nino...

| This will be my last comment here. it mainly concerns the comparisons people seem to delight in making between Dimmu Borgir and CoF- listen a little closer, mates. there is NO SIMILARITY WHATSOEVER between the two groups. Let me elaborate that. Firstly, Dimmu and Cradle are from two completely different countries. Secondly, sure they both use synth. The sounds between the two synths are completely different- Dimmu's synth sounds like action movie soundtracks, Cradle's is more gothic. (continues)

| Thirdly, check out the vocal styles. how the HELL is there a similarity between Dani and Shagrath? Even their low-tuned growling vocals are completely different. and whilst we're talkinag about vocals, let's talk about the actual lyrics. Dani writes all his lyrics himself, and they are poetry. Actual fucking POETRY. Dimmu's vocals are mainly written by Silenoz, and they more resemble tribal war chants in their structure and content. So, finally I approach the end of my rant. (continues)

| Decent album with a commercial Death Metal feel,the formula that the band has done through out the years and has helped them somehow to achieve a worldwide recognition...tracks 4,5,7,9 & 10 are my faves...80/100
