| A bit of overkill for a live CD, but ignoring all the overpriced, box-set crap, the music itself is quite good. The band were at the top of their game here. If any fan doesn't already have this box set, do yourself a favor and save a few bucks and buy the 'specially priced' DVD set rather than the overprives VHS version, unless you enjoy paying $20 more for a book with lots of pictures of the band. Before the DVD version was released, this box set already sold 600,000 copies. OUCH!

| This came out in November of '93, just in time for Christmas naturally. I was in eighth grade. God, I wanted it so bad! Sooooo fuckin' (what?) bad! Some peoople grumbled about having to share their underground favorites with the rest of the world, but Metallica were at the top of their game in the early '90's, and Binge and Purge is massive proof. Shit, who was even releasing live albums of any consequence in '93? The band is on fire, playing exhausting, long concerts of often demanding material. But what my 13-year-old self didn't realize was that this was the end of an era. What do you do when you've conquered the world? Metallica didn't know either. And thus began two decades of wandering through the wilderness.

| I didn't get it for Christmas, by the way. The list price at the time was $89.95. To my folks, paying that much for one piece of music, even if it was a box set, was utterly outrageous. Hell, it seemed steep to me, too, and all but unattainable as far as what I could save up in anything like a timely fashion.
