ST ANGER SUCKS

From: Steve Date: October 28, 2004 at 5:03
Its not terrible, because there are some preety good riffs on the album, like My World and Sweet Amber, but the album is nothing compared to their classic stuff, notably their first 5 albums. Kirk dosent solo anymore so he seems useless.

From: Metalhead66 Date: October 28, 2004 at 12:00
This album is a Strange mess of Noise!? Okay they tried to Bring it back to an old school Sound,HMMM! It sounds like demo tapes they were working on when James went into Re-hab ,then when he got out somebody said,"lets just put this out"! I've listened to it many times And still can't remember much of it!No solos??I read an interview with Kirk, and he said," i don't want to play the same Bluesy bends and stuff?!?Well Kirk, then quit! That is why Jason quit..He knew it Sucked...2.5/10

From: Rycheage Date: October 28, 2004 at 20:59
The riffs were pretty good, but not up their previous efforts. The production sounds like a third grade project went terribly wrong. Not bad on the tunes, but the unlistenable production makes this an avoidable CD.

From: Scott Date: October 29, 2004 at 13:26
Absolute crap! Can't even believe this is the mighty Metallica. Truly sad. For a more 'specific' and thought out review: http://www.nolifetilmetal.com/metallica.htm

From: Richierocker Date: October 29, 2004 at 20:51
This album has guts. it deals with insecurities , emotions and vulnerabilities. I dont care for the production and lack of solos. But it does rock fast. I saw Kirk in Boston both nights and saw him solo up close man he can still shred and its the 7th time i have seen them and this was the best he has been. They played all there old songs and a lot of obscure hits also.

From: merock Date: October 30, 2004 at 15:55
it "s good album but not like metallica"s old albums .it"s wil very good for biginer group

From: kirky Date: November 5, 2004 at 7:35

From: holy metal Date: November 5, 2004 at 10:00

From: peter Date: November 9, 2004 at 19:56
now i know this isn't the best cd but hey it's not crap. there are heaps of good songs on it like some kind of monster and just think man metallica will never die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\m/

From: T Date: November 15, 2004 at 5:21
Metallica, what have u done!!

From: Steve Date: November 15, 2004 at 5:21
Better than fuckin Obituary ill give this album that!!

From: MetalSmasher86 Date: November 28, 2004 at 2:39
Come on, St. Anger isn't THAT bad! Sure, the drums sound like garbage cans, but the beats are just awesome! In regards to the production, didn't "...And Justice For All" have raw production as well? Would that make Jusice crap as well? No, it's the music that matters. St. Anger may seem like a piece of crap on the surface, but deep inside, it's actually pretty good. Try listening to it again. It will grow on you eventually.

From: Scott Date: November 29, 2004 at 8:09
Grow on me? Like mold? It's beyond raw. The production is piss-poor and purposely so. The drums are just so annoying it makes it almost unbearable to listen to. This is the mighty Metallica we are talking about here. These guys are millionares, correct? These guys led the fight for metal for a decade. C'mon people, stop making excuses for bad music. Poor songwriting, a noticable lack of solos, repetative riffs. This CD is just not good. I am a fan too, but I can admit when something isn't good.

From: viking king Date: January 3, 2005 at 22:02
I dont like this album its sounds like lars is playing trash cans . i dont think metal is where metallica is at this point in there carrer they dont have the love for it anymore if they put out a album of songs that all sounded like hero of the day i would have more respect for them i wouldnt buy it but putting a cd out like st anger sux

From: DAN Date: January 17, 2005 at 10:21
GARAGE BANDS PUT OUT BETTER QUALITY DEMOS THAN THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE. THERE IS NO ANGER INVOLVED ON THIS CD. IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE PUTTING OUT CDS TO RIP OFF FANS AND THE FANS ARE DUMB ENOUGH TO BUY IT. METALLICA IS THE BIGGEST CONTRADICTION IN MUSIC HISTORY. EVERYTHING THEY WERE FOR AT ONE TIME(LONG HAIR/WEARING BLACK/REFUSING TO MAKE AN MTV VIDEO), THEY HAVE TURN THEIR BACK AGAINST. GO GET DRUNK, STONED AND FUCKING PUT OUT A REAL CD OR RETIRE, ASSHOLES!!

From: PJ Date: January 17, 2005 at 10:23
KIRK HAMMET SUCKS ON GUITAR ANYWAY. I CAN SEE WHY HE DIDNT SOLO ON THIS RECORD. I WAS BEYOND HIS LEVEL AND I'M HALF HIS AGE!!

From: Metal Rulz Date: January 18, 2005 at 10:09
I used to love METALLICA, when they had long hair, they were drunk and on drugs, as they were in the 80's. But I can't believe this is METALLICA...a band I used to love. Now, these days I hate them for selling out. Short hair? No speed / trash sound as before? Sorry, but this is definitely not Metallica...

From: Richierocker Date: January 23, 2005 at 11:30
Kirk played rhythm with James on this album. Kirk kicks ass live and I was even more impressed when i had 2nd row and saw how great of a player he is. Ya to some people this album has a lot to be desired but if you see the movie and read the book you will see why it sounds the way it does and why the lyrics are very deep and emotional.

From: Richierocker Date: January 23, 2005 at 11:31
Kirk didnt solo PJ becaue Lars said " that solos were dated and they were gonna try something new" He can still play and if he couldnt I dont think Metallica would keep him.

From: Jesse Date: February 7, 2005 at 15:17
Judging from this album, perhaps they need to get drunk again, or maybe Bo(o)b Rock was when he produced this monstrosity! This is Metallica gone stupid! I'll give it a 2 based on the track "Frantic" alone. 2/10

From: Papa Knows Date: February 16, 2005 at 14:27
Pure trash!

From: tony Date: March 6, 2005 at 20:47
I ONLY HACE A FEW WORDS, METALLICA: REST IN PEACE FOREVER, I MISS THOSE EARLY DAYS

From: G.l.a.a.d BOY Date: March 9, 2005 at 14:46
My name is DEMOHATER IQ 237 s/n lars is so cute

From: Date: March 29, 2005 at 17:23
PLEASE CHANGE THE NAME OF THE BAND OR STOP RELEASE RECORDS!!! THIS IS NOT METALLICA...

From: BEAU HILL Date: April 11, 2005 at 21:08
WHY DOES THE SNARE DRUM SOUND LIKE SOMEONE'S HITTING A PRIGLES CAN!!!!!! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THAT QUESTION FOR ME???

From: Metalhead66 Date: April 12, 2005 at 9:25
The dvd that came with release shows Lars playing his toms a lot and it sounds like he has his chain off on his snare!!

From: GLAM FAN Date: April 18, 2005 at 8:28
I love metallica and all their first 5 album and i'm a huge fan of them and all but not this album. To put it plain and simple, this album does not have any decent songs. At least the black album got some(nothing else matter, enter sandman) and even load got a few. If you want a better tharsh metal album from this era(2003 onwards),megadeth's the system has failed is a much better choice. Trust me. megadeth may not match up to metallica in the 80's but the system has failed can easily

From: GLAM FAN Date: April 18, 2005 at 8:29
embarass the hell out of st.anger. Ratings:5/10

From: mike Date: May 12, 2005 at 11:01
el peor cd de metallica aqui se acabo de todo...the end.

From: Dean Date: May 16, 2005 at 17:23
Pure crap-Metallica went to shit after the Black album and have never returned. Lars needs a muzzle and Bob Rock needs to be shot.

From: maurico Date: June 16, 2005 at 13:53
hi-from COSTA RICA, asi es ESTE HA SIDO Y SERA EL PEOR DISCO DEL 2003,UNA BURLA Y OBSENIDAD DE METALLICA HACIA SUS VIEJOS FANS,LAMENTABLEMENTE SU NOMBRE SE LE QUEDA MUY CORTO YA NO ES METALLICA SINO POPALLICA OR GARBALLICA, SON UNOS VENDIDOS Y SON LOS MAS ODIADOS

From: metallus75 Date: August 4, 2005 at 13:31
Pure shit, one of the worst metal album ever heard. Worse of Load and Reload who had an artistic identity.

From: MAD LOCUST Date: August 6, 2005 at 14:23
It would be nice to see a positive review amongst the many, but the simple fact is this album is not up to scratch.Kirk is a good guitarist(don't be too big headed P.J),he's just not being allowed any imput.METALLICA are James and Lars full stop. This is the reason this group who we have all loved so dearly at some time must finaly end.

From: eternia vzla Date: June 10, 2007 at 14:09
What they were listening when they recorded this album???...Simple Plan sounds like Venom comparing to this crap!.What a waste of time and what a sold out act!.Go back to your roots and show the world the big band you used to be!.

From: pie75 Date: September 7, 2010 at 9:55
well this is the album they promised would be old school again and delivered nothing the minute i heard lars' snare drum i nearly cried in my beer and no solo's from kirk he said he didn't want to do the same oild bluesy bends anymore why didn't he just come out and say "i've run out of ideas" like the rest of them even a new bass player couldn't help is this realy the same band that made ride the lightning or was it another case of milli vanilli pathetic!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: October 23, 2014 at 19:18
An album that for some you love to hate or vice versa,as simple as that..."Frantic","St Anger" & "Some Kind Of Monster" are cool songs but with that new music approach(for me it is like grunge trying to sound metal)...tracks 10 & 11 also could be in my book...it's better to stick to their early stuff and put this aside...65/100
