Trouble's 1990 album is one pretty much everybody can agree is a true classic. Production is crystal clear, but could be a little more bottom-heavy. Wartell and Franklin are riff machines, and Eric Wagner wails his Old Testament warnings--to himself and the world--with a palpable sense of dread. Highlights abound, including the two singles "At The End Of My Daze" and "Psychotic Reaction," as well as Wagner's terrified performance on "The Wolf," the grooving riff on "A Sinner's Fate," the gentle "Misery Shows Pt. 2," and "Heaven On My Mind" with that break that sounds like Duane Eddy on downers. And "Black Shapes Of Doom" just flat-out jams!

"Soft may the worms about him creep; never heard the children weep—he's asleep." Eric Wagner, gone to live in memory's garden.
