The combination of country and metal had never been attempted before, at least not to this level. Leave it to three-fourths of Pantera, and outlaw-country legend David Allan Coe to give it a try. What's interesting is that neither side really changes what they do all that much, yet the two styles work together surprisingly well. The Pantera guys inject more boogie and blues into their music than they do when Phil Anselmo's in the room, and DAC brings some honky-tonk piano and barn-dance fiddle with him, and most importantly, a sense of fun. This is quite a unique album, and bittersweet, to hear Dimebag play guitar one more time (some of his trademark earsplitting shrieks on "No Compromise," but shows a lot of diversity elsewhere). Best songs? Hell, pretty much the whole thing is great, but my favorites would be "Nothin' To Lose," "Cowboys Do More Dope," "Heartworn Highway," "Get Outa My Life" and "Cherokee Cry."

There's just something about hearing DAC yell, "Get outta my muthafuckin' life!" that makes me smile every time. And I still remember getting this disc in the mail when it was released, not having heard any of the songs before. I put it in my stereo, and when the rhythm kicked in on the first track, I just laughed out loud with pleasure.
