Amon Amarth are still doing what they do, churning out reliable, stomping, Maiden-influenced, Viking-themed melodic death meetal. Deceiver Of The Gods is their most immediate, catchiest and most punishing album since With Oden On Our Side. Songs like "Father Of The Wolf," "Shape Shifter," "Blood Eagle" and "Warriors Of The North" just pound you into the snow. "We Shall Destroy?" Bet yer ass! The one weak track might be "Hel," the duet with Messiah from Candlemass, but even that one has an infectious riff.
