This one's definitely going in my top-five-of-the-year list (yes, I do make one--you don't?). Heavy, groovy like the best of Pantera and jMachine Head, but thrashier at the same time. In a perfect world, these guys would be stars. The last album, Beast, was a little on the mediocre side, the tunes just not as catchy as they could be, but Winter Kills makes up for it and then some. Even the weird-ass indie-rock cover "Sail" is cool. Best songs: "Ruthless," "Desperate TImes," "The Appetite,' "Gutted" and "Haunting Refrain."
