The only possible downside to Symbolic is that it doesn't continue the trend of musical advancement Death had been showing on every album since Leprosy. To call it a water-treading album would be misleading though, because we still get nine kick-ass, complex, aggressive, cerebral metal tunes in a style that combines the best aspects of Human and Individual Thought Patterns. If anything, somme of the riffs might be a little catchier, without being dumbed-down or anything approaching commercial accessibility. A close second to ITP in m ranking of Death discs.

Very accurate comment my friend Doghouse Reilly ...in my case to be honest with you i've never been a die hard fan of Death and even though Chuck was recognized as one great musician who mixed the spirit of Death Metal with the virtuosity of Prog and even rock fusion it didn't say much to me but being objective this guy/band delivered quality songs in the music they did and that's a fact...in here you have good cuts in the shape of 1,3,4,6,7 & 8 and any person who is into this type of music genre will love these songs as well(which are most likely nowadays classics of the band)as i did...88/100
