Whitechapel take the metalcore of someone like Lamb Of God or Shadows Fall, but take it to the extreme, rooting it in death metal rather than thrash. Even as deathcore goes, this Tennessee band are much more death than 'core. Vocals are mostly the deep, gurgly variety, but the riffs are everywhere, and the band manage to keep a three-guitar attack interesting. This style has been one of the flavors of the moment in recent times, and I have to say, Whitechapel do it better than most.

My copy includes a 12th track, called "Animus."
