Plug this in, a great record from these Stalwarts of progressive metal, after almost 9years away Darkness In A Different Light sees Fates Warning return hungry and in fine form. I mean Firefly & I Am are typically drenched in those bass grooves, wonderful vocal melodies & usual Matheos/Aresti brilliance, some magnificent solos on offer. Look no further than One Thousand Fires & O Chloroform for Fates Warning rock cheerio and at almost 20mins length, the super progressive And Yet It Moves concludes this record perfectly. While not possessing quite the range he once did, Alder's soft tones heavy emotion and no-nonsense approach bring the material alive, an exceptional and polished vocal. The clever cover art and liner pics make for a tasty package (strongly recommend the vinyl edition). Rating 9 but maybe an 8 for those free of such bias

totally agree with Wardy for this one ,as FATES WARNING easily offer quality tunes from every aspect!most important that they create a certain dark mellow vibe without exceeding and always having a slightly mainstream commercial edge."firefly","one thousand fires","i am" and "into the black" are excellent tunes!essential for every fan
